However, a famous franchise's hypertext brings more variety.
Anyway, the novel The Tale of an Utterly Gutsy Shinobi turns around the protagonist Naruto Musasabi (鼯鼠ナルト), a Jōnin-Ninja from the village Shuku (儵) who wants to bring his best friend Renge Momoashi. Renge has fled to the village Kon (混) where he usurps the forbidden Jutsu Gukōizan. This Jutsu can literally control and move mountain. In other words, he wants to prevent him to tread an evil path. Naruto travels - together with his female comrade Tsuyu and the veteran Nikaku Onikoma - to Kon in order to bring Renge back to their home village Shuku. But this mission is more difficult than anticipated and either way, some mind-blowing surprises are revealed towards the end of the story.
As for the the novel's meta level, Naruto Musasabi is nearly entirely inspired by Jiraiya but he also contains some traits from Nagato, Minato Namikaze and Naruto Uzumaki. He also states analogously: "I'm gonna bring peace to the entire Ninja World". Moreover, Renge is inspired by the anti-hero Orochimaru and Tsuyu is inspired by the Snail Princess Tsunade.
Despite there are some references to the manga/anime's original story line, there are also many supplements in this novel, e.g. Shima, a female ninja who is at first antagonistic before she joins Naruto Musasabi's team.
All in all, I'm very excited about the novel The Tale of an Utterly Gutsy Ninja 'cuz it's an unparalleled hypertext of the Naruto-franchise with a basically autonomous plot. I'm very excited, I can really recommend it everyone. With that said, I rate this novel with 5 of 5 stars.

A fan art of the way Naruto Musasabi is imagined by most of the fans. |
