The Japanese title screen from DBZ - Budokai Tenkaichi 3 |
Dragon Ball Z - Budokai Tenkaichi 3 (aka Dragon Ball Z - Sparking! METEOR in Japan) - released for Wii and PS2 (I've got the Wii-version) belongs to the best anime-based video games ever. It was in advance of this time: transformations and attacks were more similar to the anime; the stages contained more individuality. Moreover, the story mode's fights were optimated to the effect that the dialogues were spoken during these actions. And the character roaster as well as the characters' alternate clothes were more multifarious.
My today's interrogation: Is a remake from Dragon Ball Z - Budokai Tenkaichi 3 really worthy? If yes, for all current consoles or for the Switch only?
Yes, of course.
1. By today's engine; fixing various bugs as well as translation mistakes and an improved gameplay, a remake has the potential to be successful. Furthermore, it's really a good idea because you can reenact the entire original story (not like the DBXV-series where it is more free mixed).
2. On the 2018/3/25 ended for the time being anime Dragon Ball Super and many events occured in the movies Dragon Ball Super: Broly (2018) as well as Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero (2022) too, hence, all of this would be ideal for the remake's perfection (i.e. the story-line from Dragon Ball Super as well as the new characters, old characters' new designs, transformations and setting). Especially Cabba, Frost, Jiren, Dyspo, Jiren and Toppo would be a very good addition for the Budokai Tenkaichi 3-character roaster and can be unhesistatingly adopted in that state in which they used to be in Xenoverse 2 - including their respective movesets. But of course, their quotes (even the story-based dialogues) should be redubbed in the Budokai Tenkaichi 3-remake but it's not a problem because the voice actors do energetically and passionately a very good job anyway.
3. Moreover, the Dragon Ball Super-manga's
alternate plot might also be implemented - as a mode called "Another Super-Story". With that said, the manga's exclusive transformations or attacks should be added - last-mentioned as custom moves.
3.1. Anyway, it was a good idea from Toyotarô (Toriyama's assistant) letting Vegeta turn into a Super Saiyan Red during the fight against Goku Black in the DBS-manga. I wish we could also see Vegeta using this transformation in the Anime. But the transformation SSB Evolution during the Tournament of Power was also very exciting.
However, it wouldn't be a bad idea to add the transformation Super Saiyan Red for Vegeta in the remake from Budokai Tenkaichi 3.
3.2. Furthermore, Goku was able to use the Hakai-technique during the fight against Merged Zamasu in the Manga. Despite there is a very decisive difference in this technique, it's always impressive seeing Goku copying various technique from his foes - like a boss. I guess, he is able to use it in the anime too, even it hasn't been shown on-screen in the anime.
However, Goku's Hakai would be a perfect Super Finisher Move in the remake from Budokai Tenkaichi 3.
4. It doesn't have to be called Dragon Ball Z - Budokai Tenkaichi 3 DX; it's better it should be internationally released by the original-japanese name Dragon Ball Z - Sparking! METEOR. This name sounds much better, doesn't it?
5. Meanwhile, the DLCs had been turned into socially acceptable things. Regarding to the upcoming Dragon Ball Super movies as wells as the new episodes which are released in 2023, at least three DLC-packs might be created easily.
Besides, these following characters should be added to the roaster too:
**known by the OVA whose title might be loosely translated as Hey! Goku and his friends returns!
And you can - unhesistatingly - lower your sight on a certain character by removing her entirely: Chichi.

This would be very phenomenal!!! |
- Adult Goten (DBS clothes as default skins + End of DBZ as well as GT as alternate skins)
- Trunks (DBS clothes as default skins + End of DBZ as well as GT as alternate skins)
- Adult Gotenks*
- Tarble
- Abo**
- Kado**
- and of course, the fusion Abokado**
- Master Shen (aka the Crane Hermit)
**known by the OVA whose title might be loosely translated as Hey! Goku and his friends returns!

Let be honest: Chichi was a waste for a slot in the character roaster. This mistake mustn't repeat in the remake again.
Conclusion: There is nothing more to think about. A remake from Dragon Ball Z - Budokai Tenkaichi 3 would bring only advantages and might be a good opportunity for a new experience of this legendary classic game.
And now, I ask you: Are you in favor of a remake from Dragon Ball Z - Budokai Tenkaichi 3 too? If yes, would you like to have it for the Switch only or also for other consoles? Please write your opinions in the comments.
