A fanart from a 10 years old Max |
But despite not being a Pokémon trainer at that time, he knew a lot about the Pokémon as well as about Pokémon battles.
A very interesting and most importantly, justified question in this context is as follows: How Max has been since EP466 Home Is Where he Start Is!? The thing is: The most current thing being known about his further development was that he tooks lessons from his father Norman - it has been shown in his sister May's flashback in EP542 A Full Course Tag Battle!. Furthermore, Ash and Max had promised each other, during their farewell, that they battle someday when the latter has become Pokémon trainer.
Additionally, many people from the old days appear in the newest Journeys arc and it wouldn't be devious if Max made a comeback as well - as Pokémon trainer, notabene.
In the following, I'm gonna show, by reference to evidences probably being potential hints and on the basis of some other speculations (especially by fan arts found by myself) how Max would look like nowadays and how his Pokémon roaster would be composed of. With that in mind, here we go:
Regardless of the fact that Max has declared in some episodes that he would choose Treecko as starter Pokémon and he wanna become the Gym Leader of Petalburg City as well, like his dad Norman, there're further evidences implying the composition of his Pokémon roaster:
A fraction of Max' potential Pokémon roaster based on the evidences being elaborated in the text |
And it would lately evolve into Breloom.
In EP355 Take This House and Shuppet, Max becomes friends with a Shuppet. Due to the fact that Shuppet isn't a Pokémon catched by Emily despite living together with her since childhood, it'd be conceivable that Max would catch that Shupped if he met it once again someday. But Shuppet wouldn't be called into action in a battle so much, you might ask yourself if it's gonna ever evolve into a Banette.
In EP383 Do I hear a Ralts?, Max meets an ill Ralts whose he help getting cured. As they make farewells, he promised said Ralts to go to him and catch him as soon as he has become a Pokémon trainer.
And let us assume this would be the case: That Ralts might evolve up to Gallade and addionally be that Pokémon of Max performing the Mega Evolution, by default. Cuz Sayer who occurs in the XY arc has already a Sceptile using the Mega Evolution by default, thus, it'd be redunant if Max' starter Pokémon Sceptile was also the default Pokémon using the Mega Evolution.
One of the possibilities how Max' Pokémon roaster would be like |
In my opinion, the remaining Pokémon of said roaster could be explained as follows:
- Indeed, Slaking would be a Pokémon which Max might received as a gift from his father Norman, be it as an offspring of Norman's Pokémon or directly one of the Pokémon Norman had in the first place and then bestowed to Max
- Masquerain might be a hommage on Max' eponymous doppelganger who appeared in EP325 Maxxed Out. This would be an intication that Max wanna be in no inferior to his doppelganger
- Explould could be just a random Pokémon catched by Max.
If Ash and Max battle each other someday, then it'd be cool if Ash's Greninja returns at first (Obviously, both pics are fanarts) |
Concerning a battle between Ash and Max, it'd be an exciting match - providing Ash takes his Greninja back in the first place. As expected, Greninja would transform into the Ash-Greninja form during the battle by the ability Battle Bond and fight against Max' Gallade who performs the Mega Evolution.
Certainly, both of them shall be defeated at the same time, thus the battle ends with a draw. Furtherly, a kinda sudden death shall be given and Ash would be the winner, so Max would recognize:
"Oh I see, I've to become more stronger if I wanna follow my dad's footsteps."
By the way, of course, the battle would take place during the Ever Grand Conference (aka the Hoenn League).
All in all, Max would be well poised as a Pokémon trainer precisely cuz he'd be able to tie in with everything he accomplished on his journey during the Advanced Generation arc, either more or less. Needless to say, it'd also be exciting to see a serious battle (i.e. not a just-for-fun battle) between Ash and Max cuz both of them would be coequal opponents.
And now, I ask you: Do you also wish a comeback of Max as a Pokémon trainer? And would you agree with Max' potential Pokémon roaster as well, either completely or partial? If no, why? Don't hesitate writing it in the commets.
