The game Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (2018) was able to live up to its hype and has surpassed als of its predecessor games, even Super Smash Bros. Melee (having been released in Japan and North America 2001 erschienen and in the rest of the world in 2002).
In the past year, the Fighters Pass Vol. 2 in Ultimate had been completed and of course, this begs the question of if a third Fighters Pass is ever gonna be launched, no matter if in the near or distant future.
Feel free to admit it: You're also speculate in a potential Fighters Pass Vol. 3 right now |
In the following, I'm gonna share my ideas concerning this matter. In the concrete sense, I'm gonna elaborate:
- which characters I wish for Ultimate
- why these characters from all of them and to which extent they'd be an ultra good enrichment for the character roaster
- and last but not least, how a third Fighters Pass' possible compilation would ideally look like.
Without further ado, let us begin:
1) The characters I wish they were featured in Ultimate
1.1 From the Pokémon franchise
Above on the left: a normal-colored Kecleon Above on the right: a Shiny Kecleon Below: a Purple Kecleon (fan sprite) |
The thing is: Kecleon's anime debut was already in the Original Series arc (i.e. the arc covering everything from Episode 1 to Episode 274 or else, Season 1 to Season 5).
Anyways, here's a suggestion of mine concerning a possible moveset for Keckleon as a playable character in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate:
Neutral + B → Mega Punch
Up + B → Giga Impact
Down + B → Bide
Side + B → Drain Punch
Final Smash: Hyper Beam
A fanmade SSBU render for Cinderace as playable character |
Its move-set in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate should be as follows:
Neutral + B → Pyro Ball
Up + B → Bounce
Down + B → Double Kick
Side + B → Blaze Kick
Final Smash: G-Max Fireball
Self-evidently, Cinderace should be based on Goh's Cinderace, making it the fourth Pokémon - after Mewtwo, Lucario and Charizard - being inspired by a particular member of its species.
1.2 From the Super Mario- or else Donkey Kong franchise
Concerning Chunky Kong, I've indeed already mentioned in some other articles that I wish that he was implemented as a playable character as well. Especially considering that he hadn't appeared as a playable character in any games since the Nintendo 64 game Donkey Kong 64 (1999), it's really worth consideration.
And please, don't come up with: "But he's already a spirit in Ultimate, so he wouldn't be a possibility to implement him as a playable character anymore."
Because Min-Min from Arms (2017) was a spirit in the first place as well and she has been released 2020 as a playable character in Ultimate, within the frames of the Fighters Pass Vol. 2. Since then, the rule claiming that once a character has been implemented as a spirit, they shouldn't be taken into consideration in terms of being a playable character.
Funky Kong might be implemented as an Echo Fighter from Donkey Kong. Only the animations and the taunt poses should be different. Besides, as onscreen appearance before the beginning of a fight, instead of jumping out of a DK barrel, he should emerge while riding on his surfboard.
Toad and his various outfits which might serve as alternate skins |
In the Brawl-Mod Project M, he was implemented as a playable character and therein, you can see what it'd like if he was implemented canonly as such in an OFFICIAL Super Smash Bros. game.
In the PS below, I've linked, for instance, a Project M reveal trailer from Toad as well as a showcase, so you can get some impressions about what it'd like, if Toad was a playable character.
1.3 From third party franchise
Silver the Hedgehog would be magnificently suitable as a playable character in Ultimate. So, the protagonist Sonic the Hedgehog wouldn't be the only one of this franchise being represented in this game. Furthermore, when Silver was implemented, another telekinesis would be represented in the Chraracter Roaster.
B + side Psychokinesis
B + unten Time Slow
B + oben Teleport
Final Smash Super Silver
Crash Bandicoot is a character desired by many fans as a playable character for Ultimate. I myself hadn't play a game from the Crash Bandicoot franchise before and therefore, I cannot say anything about it but I think he should be implemented as dlc character in Ultimate as well, so said fans are finally satisfied thereby.

2) My suggestions for the characters assemblings in the frames of a possible Fighters Pass Vol 3 at some point down the line
Stages:
- VS. King K. Rool Stage → Challenger Pack 12
- VS. Mewtwo Stage, from the N64 game Pokémon Stadium (released in Japan 1999 and 2000 in the rest of the world) → Challenger Pack 13
- Exception which is the Final Zone from the NDS game Sonic Rush (2005) → Challenger Pack 14
- N. Sanity Beach/Cortex Island (von der Crash Bandicoot-Franchise) → Challenger Pack 15
- VS.-Bowser Stage → Challenger Pack 17
- Delfino's Secret → Challenger Pack 17
- Wario Land Throne → Challenger Pack 17
- Metal Cavern → Challenger Pack 17
Tracks:
- All-Star Rest Area (Melee) - Acapella Arrangement → Challenger Pack 12
- Acapella Arrangement of the respective Boss Fight Themes aus Donkey Kong 64 (Das wären acht Tracks) → Challenger Pack 12
- Pokémon Red/Blue/Yellow Rival Final Battle (Acapella Arrangement) → Challenger Pack 13
- Team Rocket Hideout (Acapella Arrangement) → Challenger Pack 13
- Super Mario Land 2 - 6 Golden Coins Athletic Theme (Acapella Arrangement) → Challenger Pack 17
(Before you come up with: "What the heck do you want with acapella?", my answer is as follows: Unfortunately, acapella is more or less underrated, therefore, it has to be more promoted. Have you ever listened to some video game themes' acapella version on YouTube which are provided by the Smooth McGroove, Kitz Kohlmiller, McTweet etc. before? Many of them have been really made magnificently.)
A fan-made banner of how it'd look like if Cinderace was announced as a dlc character for Ultimate |
And no, I didn't disregard Cinderace cuz he should rather be implemented as a seperate dlc character - analogous to the Piranha Plant being already available as a seperate dlc character as well.
All in all, it'd be truly magnificent, if the characters mentioned were implemented in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate as playable characters in terms of dlcs. Same for the stages. It bears repeating: Nowadays, practically everything is possible by dlcs and patches.
And now, I'd be interested in knowing whaddaya think about it: Do you agree with my suggestions in concerning a possible Fighters Pass Vol. 3? Have you anything to add? Or do you even have different suggestions for dlc characters and the like?
Don't hesitate writing it in the comment section below.
PS: As bonus, here're some videos concerning Toad in Project M and also concerning Waluigi in Project M wherein the latter is a playable character as well:
